Path Train Jump Attempt at Grove Street in Jersey City
PATH train service suspended due to jump attempt at Grove Street in Jersey City M.G. De Guzman / The Jersey Journal The morning commute was laden with delays due to a jump attempt made by a young woman at the Grove Street PATH Station, Port Authority officials say. Confirmed by surveillance video footage, at around 6:20 A.M. a distressed young woman leaped in front of an incoming train. Fortunately, the timing of the jump afforded the engineer time to apply the breaks. The woman also landed in a location that provided her with good clearance from the third rail, officials also report. The woman was extricated from under the train conscious and with no major injuries, and accompanied by the conductor and another Port Authority employee to Jersey City Medical Center. An EMS on scene described her as "lucky to be alive." She is currently undergoing treatment and psychiatric evaluations. Service at the Grove Street station was suspended, then delayed to 20-minute interval...
