It's about that time to say, "Bye Bye to 2011". It has been a good year for me seeing my daughter transform from a infant into a toddler. I had the chance to see my daughter's first tooth, first steps , and first words, so even though 2011 is soon to be only a memory, I am grateful for the joys it has brought to me in only 12 short months.  As I say " Bye Bye to 2011" and look 2012 in the face. I will only hope that it will bring me love, peace, and more chances to be a great mother. Whatever 2012 brings me I will embrace it with open arms and indulge it because it will only last a mere 365 days before it will once again only be memory. 

Today is December 31st 2011 and on this day in history in 1879, Thomas Edison demonstrates incandescent light to the public, by lighting up a street in Menlo Park, New Jersey.  An incandescent light bulb produces light by heating a metal filament wire to a high temperature until it glows.   Even though other inventors also came up with other versions of incandescent lamps, Thomas Edison's version stood out because of its effective incandescent material , its higher vacuum , and its high resistance.  During his demonstration in Menlo Park, Edison said, "We will make electricity so cheap, only the rich will burn candles". And now in 2011 we can say his statement was correct. 

Happy TGIF ! Yes it is Friday and for me the weekend begins today, but this is not any ordinary weekend, this weekend will be the start of a new year. This weekend will be 2011 and 2012, which I think is awesome, that all in the matter of one weekend we will experience two different years.  This is definitely not the weekend to sit around and complain, but it is a great time to make changes in your life and if they are no changes to be made, just use this weekend and start of the new year to work on your goals. Goals are a big part of beginning the new year, even though many people may call these goals, "New Year's Resolutions" , do not let the difference fool you. Many "New Year's Resolutions " do not last very long. People want to make changes in their life but wanting to do something and actually doing it are two completely different stories.  This year take control of your "New Year's Resolutions" and turn them into goals that will

I personally never heard a person of Asian decent sing, but this girl right here killed it. She is only 14 years old covering, "Rolling in the deep" by Adele and I have to say she did an awesome job. I also think she should get a record deal in the U.S. because she sounds great and we do not have any Asian singers in the industry right now. But I guess we have to wait and see what happens. 

Kimora Lee Hounsou and her hubby Djimon Hounsou look great walking down the beach on their family trip in St. Barts. The 36 year old mother of 3 is looking better than ever these days and I have to say her hubby is looking great also. I love this ,"Power Couple".

Another Round by Chris Brown ft Fat Joe is one of my favorite songs right now and it is also MTV Jams, Jam of the week, so I had the chance to see the official video for it. I must say, I also like the video and Fat Joe looks great after losing 100 pounds.  This video is definitely for the grown and sexy, Shit this song is just sexy anyway you look at it. So when something happens in my life that makes me upset, I just look at it as something good will be coming soon, so the negative had to be pushed out of my life first. The book studies this particular language phenomena in the context of social and structure definitions of “pidgin,” which deal with both the need to bridge two or more languages and the resulting reduced linguistic structure that serves as a means to communicate among people who don’t have a common language. So we made it through Hurricane Irene! Pure madness from the Earthquake that surprisingly shook the East Coast, leading up to the vicious Hurricane Irene, the East Coast had its share of natural occurrences for 2011. The good thing about it is that the East Coast had the chance to experience something many people who live here have never had the chance to experience before, even though they may not have been good experiences. Hopefully we will not have to experience these circumstances again, but when Mother Nature is pissed off , she is a bitch.

Yesterday's earthquake was a new experience to many New Jersey and New York natives. The sad part is not everyone had the opporunity to feel it and I was one of them. Hearing the news that there had been an earthquake and I had not even the slightist clue, upset me. It was not like feeling an earthquake is on my bucket list or anything, but it would have been an experience and an exciting story to tell my kids. Living on the east coast I may never have the opporunity to come in counter with another earthquake in my lifetime, so I feel like I missed out on something.

On this day in 1943 , LIFE magazine spotlighted a dance craze that was sweeping the U.S.A. -- the Lindy Hop . The Lindy was named after American aviation hero Charles A. Lindbergh; and began its entry into the American lifestyle in 1927. The Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, New York was really jumping when George ‘Shorty’ Snowden, one of the Savoy’s famous dancers, started doing twists, turns, jumps and twirls to the music of greats like Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald. Snowden told everyone he was doing the Lindy Hop. The jitterbug, swing or Lindy as it was called by white dancers became an integral part of Hollywood’s golden era and was picked up by the youth of America during WWII, as exhibited on the LIFE cover. Hello Everyone! I know I have not updated www.allaboutlashay.com lately, but I been very busy with my daughter's first birthday, and if that was not enough my laptop broke on me. But I am writing this post to let everyone know that I am back and ready to work. Even though I seemed to be MIA , I really have been enjoying life with my family. As much as I want to work all the time, my daughter needs me and I have to be there for her first. So for her 1st birthday we celebrated all weekend. Jayla's birthday was actually on Friday August 5th , so her father and I took her to the Jenkinsons Aquarium in Point Pleasant , NJ. We had a great time and I would recommend anyone with small children to take them there. R&B singer Ashanti is back in the studio, working on a new album. Even though she has not released an album since, " The Declaration" in 2008, many of her fans such as myself are still listening to some of Ashanti's biggest hits like: Foolish, Baby, Rock with u, Rain on me, and many more.  This will be Ashanti's fifth album and I am really looking forward to seeing her growth from her last album to this album. Hopefully she will bring the fire on this album. 

English singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home. The cause  of death is still unexplained, but a post- mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow.   Even though Winehouse was only 27 years old, she has been battling drug abuse for years, but there is still no evidence that drug abuse was the cause of death. It seems like many people are assuming she died of drug abuse, but I think everyone needs to just wait until the facts are released before dirt is thrown on her name.  R.I.P Amy Winehouse (1983-2011)

In NY l eaving my PSA (Public Service Announcement ) release on July 15,2011. The viewing was at Tribeca Cinemas, so I got to see myself for the first time on a big screen. It was an exciting experience for me. I also feel that it was a good deed to the community, telling teens and young adults it is okay to practice sex safe by using condoms.  I would love to work on another project like this in the future and please stay tuned to see the completed PSA project.

Google Maps After fishing on the pier in the center of this image, two men jumped into the Arthur Kill with the intentions of swimming to shore. A search was launched yesterday for the man who didn't make it. PERTH AMBOY  — Authorities discovered the body of a man floating just under the water's surface about 50 yards from where he was last seen clinging onto a piling, officials said. The man, whose identity was not released, had jumped off a pier in Perth Amboy to swim back to shore with another man sometime around 9 p.m., said city Fire Chief Dave Volk. While one of the men successfully swam to shore, the other was last seen by witnesses swimming from piling to piling of the 100-yard-long pier near the end of Buckingham Avenue, Volk said. The men, described as middle-aged, had been fishing off the pier before their swim, Volk said. A fire department rescue boat failed to find him, after being guided to the scene by witnesses on cell phones soon after receiving a call at 9:15

As soon as I begin to think about slowing down, I play this video and then I go back to work. So Miguel shot the video for ,"Quickie" without me. The song ,"Quickie" is off of Miguel's debut album, " All I Want is You". I been digging this song since the first time I heard it, which was months ago. I spent my 4th of July 2011 with my family. It was my daughters' first 4th of July so we had to do something outta the box, so we took her to Sesame Place for the first time and she has a ball. Check out the pics and video below. 

So R&B singer Lloyd comes out with a video to his song, "Naked" starring Kamille Leai, better known to most as Hot Wings from VH1's second season of , "Real Chance of Love". You are probably saying, "So what , who cares", but did you know Hot Wings physically gets naked in the video. I really feel that she agreed to get naked in this video just to get back in the spotlight and to get some media attention.
